In the North East Kingdom, Sheffield, Vermont is well known for its proposed wind power projects that have been controversial over the last four years. The wind power projects are to supply the town of Sheffield and surrounding regions with clean wind energy. Chartered in October 25, 1763, after the town of the town of Sheffield in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Sheffield is presently located in Caledonia County. Surrounding towns include Barton, Sutton, Wheelock and Glover. Just over 700 residents live in Sheffield, with an average income of over $28,000. Miller's Run school is Sheffield's Pre, K, through junior high school, also home to the Free Will Baptist church.
